Albany police patrol car involved in accident


ALBANY, N.Y. – An Albany police patrol car was involved in an accident with another vehicle Friday afternoon.

The officer was responding to an emergency call when the other vehicle came into his path just after 12:15 p.m. in the area of North Main Avenue and Lancaster Street.

The patrol unit grazed the side of the other vehicle. The second vehicle struck a utility pole while the patrol car impacted a house on North Main Avenue.

Both the officer and the other driver were treated at the scene by medical personnel and received follow-up treatment at area hospitals. Their injuries appear to be minor at this time.

The accident is being investigated by Albany Police Traffic Safety Personnel.
