ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany police are investigating a homicide that occurred in the area of Clinton Street and Second Avenue Thursday.

Police said the shooting took place around 6:10 p.m. Police found the 35-year-victim when they responded to the scene. The victim was taken to Albany Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

There is no information on a suspect at this time. The investigation is ongoing.

“I know our detectives are actively working the case,” Detective Kenneth Koonz said. “We don’t have any other information as far as suspect or motive at this point.”

Police also declined to say specifically where the victim was shot, how many times or what may have led to the shooting. Police said an autopsy will help determine that information.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039.

“In order for us to do our job, we need that kind of information,” Koonz continued. “We do a lot to foster partnerships to enable that to happen. And let’s hope in this case that folks in the community that have information do come forward. We hope that to be the case.”
