Albany police investigating Elk Street shooting


ALBANY, N.Y. – The Albany Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on Elk Street Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Elk Street around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday for a report of shots fired. One hour later, officers responded to Albany Medical Center for a report of a gunshot victim.

It was discovered the 47-year-old male victim had been shot in the earlier incident on Elk Street. Police said the motive for the shooting was robbery and the victim and offenders had some connection.

The suspects are two males in their teens. The victim was treated and released.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at 518-462-8039.
