ALBANY, N.Y.—After the New York State Police conducted “Speed Week” and “Operation Hang-Up” campaigns, the results are in.
Troopers said over 24,000 tickets were issued during the campaign, that’s over 2,100 more than last year.
More than 3,400 tickets were issued during “Operation Hang-Up” for drivers using hand-held phones, texting, or using other electronics behind the wheel.
Troopers are in the middle of operation Work Brake right now, focusing on erratic driving through work zones.
In Vermont, 11 people have been killed in fatal crashes in 2014. Seven were drivers, two passengers, and two were pedestrians. The number of fatalities is still less than previous years.
