Two men accused of attempted murder in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. - Police have arrested two people for the attempted homicide of an Albany man.

According to Albany Police, on April 17 around 11:30 p.m., officers responded to the area of Garden Street and Raymo Street for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a male victim who sustained a single gunshot wound.

The 24-year-old victim was treated at the scene by medical personnel and taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital. He remained in the hospital listed in critical condition.

An investigation led to the arrests of Shaqquese Salmond, 20, and Desonte Welch, 19 after two search warrants produced a .22 caliber revolver and loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol were located.

Salmond and Welch have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree and attempted murder in the second degree.

Both men were arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
