ALBANY, N.Y. – A man has been sentenced after he was found guilty of robbing an elderly woman.

On February 26, 2014, Cole was found guilty after a jury trial of one Count of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree, a Felony, and one Count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Felony.

Police originally said that on March 30, 2013, officers responded to a call that an elderly woman was injured after a man knocked her to the ground and dragged her while attempting to steal her purse. The incident happened in the area of Washington Avenue and Robin Street in Albany.

The victim is a 92-year-old resident of Albany. She sustained a fractured left hand and substantial cuts and bruising to her arms and legs during the assault.
Witnesses helped police to identify the defendant.  Surveillance video ultimately showed the defendant targeting and following the victim throughout the day.
