North Greenbush residents vote for new fire station

NORTH GREENBUSH, N.Y. – The voters of the North Greenbush Fire District #1 voted to build a new first station in Defreestville.

A full 76 percent of voters approved a bond of nearly $6 million to build a new fire station on Route 4. Out of 582 total votes cast, 440 voted yes, and 133 voted no.

Michael Lashment is the Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners for the North Greenbush Fire District #1. He released the following statement on the vote:

"The Board of Fire Commissioners of the North Greenbush Fire District #1 is grateful to the voters of the District for approving this bond and paving the way for the construction of a new fire station in Defreestville.  This project will be a benefit to all resident of the Fire District as well as greatly improve conditions for the volunteers at Defreestville Fire Department.

We will continue to work diligently to justify the confidence placed in us by our residents and look forward to breaking ground on this project in the near future."
