Waterford woman accused of welfare fraud

WATERFORD, N.Y. – A woman has been arrested on welfare fraud charges according to authorities.

The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said Debra Kiely, 47, was arrested after an investigation was conducted with the office and social services special investigations unit.

Kiely allegedly received over $8,000 in benefits to which she was not entitled to.

She was arrested and charged with four counts of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, one count of grand larceny, and one count of welfare fraud.

Kiely was arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
