State Police start 'Operation Work Brake'

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York State Police are beginning an operation on the Thruway to crack down on those who speed in work zones.

The initiative is called “Operation Work Brake.”

The five day enforcement will target speeding and aggressive drivers in and around work zones. The goal is to make drivers aware of the hazards road crews face in work zones and get them to slow down.

Troopers will continue their enforcement through Friday.

Last year, State Police issued over 250 tickets for speeding in and around work zones during the same operation.
