Juveniles being questioned about bottle bombs

HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. – Police in Hoosick Falls say they are interviewing five youths who may be connected to a bottle bomb incident.

On Saturday, officers responded to a report of shots fire in the area of River Street. Upon arrival, officers observed several subjects fled from the scene.

Police say bottles on the ground, which appeared to have exploded, were located at the scene.

According to Hoosick Falls Police, two juvenile males admitted to setting off “bottle bombs”.

Authorities say that bottle bombs are a very dangerous mixture of a chemical and that when it is properly mixed and sealed, it can cause an explosion. The explosion can be capable of causing serious damage to people and property.

One of the bottles that were located was intact and the Rensselaer County Haz-Mat and the New York State Police Bomb squad responded and assisted on securing the bottle. 

Police say five youths ranging from age 14 to 16 have been interviewed and charges are pending.
