Sheriff: Man stole personal check and shotgun from victim

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – A man is accused of stealing a personal check and a firearm from a known victim.

According to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, a victim reported unusual activity in his checking account and also noticed a shotgun was missing from his home.

An investigation revealed that David Drennen, 28, who was helping the victim with payment of bills, is allegedly responsible for stealing the personal check and using it. Drennen is also accused of taking a 20-gauge shotgun from the victim’s home and traded it to a third party, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say the shotgun was recovered.

Drennen has been charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree and petit larceny.
