COHOES, N.Y. – The man accused of breaking his son’s ribs will appear in Cohoes City Court this afternoon for a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
According to authorities, Christopher Barnes, 26, admitted to allegedly squeezing his seven-month-old son’s chest because the baby wouldn’t stop crying.
Child Protective Services was already investigating Barnes’ household after an unknown person reported to CPS the baby looked underweight. The baby was taken to Albany Medical Center for a scan when the nine broken ribs were discovered.
Police became involved and interviewed Barnes when he allegedly admitted to using force on his son.
Barnes was remanded to jail on $25,000 bail.
