Schenectady civil rights complaint dismissed

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—A civil rights complaint made by the Schenectady School District was dismissed on Thursday.

The complaint argued that the way New York distributes education funding has a de facto impact on minority and non-English speaking students.

The US Department of Education’s office for civil rights dismissed the complaint and said it does not have jurisdiction.

Superintendent Larry Spring said the district is not giving up on its fight and will file the complaint with the department of justice.
