Albany woman arrested for claiming to be an attorney

NEW SCOTLAND, N.Y.—An Albany woman was arrested after claiming to be an attorney on Wednesday.

Carina Comiskey, 29, was arrested after a background investigation for a Governor’s appointment as an attorney for the New York State Justice Center.

Comiskey provided documents to a State Police investigator saying she had passed the bar examination and was admitted to practice law in New York State.

After investigation, it was revealed that she graduated from Albany Law School with a Juris Doctorate but had failed the bar exam four times.

Comiskey was charged with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument, Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and Falsifying Business Records.

The documents she produced were forged to make it appear she was a licensed attorney. Comiskey is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Scotland court on April 24.
