Police make arrest in Watervliet JSHS bomb threats

WATERVLIET, N.Y. – The Watervliet Police Department has made an arrest in the bomb threats made at the Watervliet Junior Senior High School with a connection to the state of Michigan.

A high school in Farmington, Michigan received a similar incident, and a suspect was in custody. The Michigan suspect implicated 17-year-old Jacob Lindsay, a student at Watervliet High School, as his co-conspirator in both bomb threats received at Watervliet High School and a “swatting” incident that occurred at a Watervliet residence on April 11.

Lindsay was brought in for questioning and provided a full confession to his involvement in all three New York incidents as well as the Michigan incident. Lindsay and the Michigan suspect befriended one another online and used Skype to conduct the threats, according to police.

Lindsay was charged with three counts of Falsely Reporting an Incident in the Second Degree. He was arraigned in Watervliet City Court.

Additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
