Capital Region celebrates Earth Day

ALBANY, N.Y.—Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 in hopes of raising awareness.

The first earth day was on April 22 in 1970 to increase public awareness of environmental problems.

Earth Day is now celebrated every year by more than a billion people in 180 nations.

Locally, students of Forest Park Elementary were awarded a new recycled picnic table made from Entenmann’s little bites they collected through a recycling program.

The Earth Day awareness campaign is aimed to educate consumers on how to recycle and turn trash into cash.
