EAST GREENBUSH N.Y. - Special Olympics New York is teaming up with New York State Public High School Athletic Association, the third largest high school association in the country, to create Unified Sports.

The official announcement is set for this afternoon at Columbia High School in East Greenbush.

Organizers say the first of its kind collaborative initiative will bring intellectually disabled high school students new opportunities to get involved in extracurricular sports. On Tuesday, the school will
be talking about benefits that come with access and participation in sports for students with disabilities. These benefits include socialization, improved teamwork, leadership skills and of course fitness.
