Mayor Sheehan declares Earth Week in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. – Mayor Kathy Sheehan was joined by elected officials and environmental groups on Monday to proclaim the beginning of Earth Week.

Mayor Sheehan described going green initiatives in the city and projects she has planned for the future.

"We've gotta make sure that we build an infrastructure and plan for a future that is going to be safe and also allow us to respond to these changes,” said Sheehan.

Sheehan and other officials took a "nature selfie" on Monday, a project started by the EPA and The Nature Conservancy. The photo project encourages people to taking their own #natureselfie in the same place for the next five years to see how nature grows. 

Earth Day is Tuesday and Arbor Day is April 25.
