LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. - A Niskayuna man accused of stabbing his wife to death on Christmas Eve pleaded guilty on Thursday.

Clifford Burns, 46, is facing felony murder charges. He had previously pleaded not guilty in January 2014.

According to police, Burns stabbed his estranged wife, 42-year-old Patricia Burn, multiple times on Christmas Eve 2013. He also injured his 22-year-old step-daughter when she allegedly tried to intervene.

Patricia Burns was pronounced dead at Glens Falls Hospital.

After the attack, police said Clifford Burns led them on a brief car chase in Lake George that ended in the parking lot of the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say Burns faces a maximum sentence of 23 years to life when sentenced on May 30 in Warren County Court.
