Brothers accused of producing child pornography indicted

FONDA, N.Y. –  Two brothers have been indicted on federal charges in a child pornography case.

Officials have confirmed that Richard Hastings, 18, and Robert Hastings, 22, were indicted by a grand jury in U.S. District Court in Albany on charges of production of child pornography and possession of child pornography. Robert Hastings also was indicted on a charge of receipt of child pornography.

In August 2013, the brothers were arrested. Robert Hastings is accused of producing a sexually explicit video involving a young girl on August 2, 2013. Richard Hastings, is accused of producing sexually explicit photographs involving the same young girl between July 27th and July 29th, and posting them online.

U.S. Attorneys say Richard Hastings unknowingly e-mailed the pictures to an undercover investigator in Australia.

Only days after their arrests, a judge ruled that Richard Hastings is a "danger" and ordered him to stay behind bars in Fulton County jail.  The younger brother allegedly admitted to the crimes, calling himself a "monster" and saying he was "on a rampage and couldn't stop himself."
