Teen accused of breaking into cars, police ask residents to be vigilant


NORTH ADAMS, Mass., - North Adams Police say an 18-year-old is accused of breaking into several vehicles.

On Tuesday evening, police reported to a call to the area of Montana Street, for a report of a male illegally entering vehicles.

Authorities located the subject on Blackinton Street, who matched the description provided by the caller.

Brandon Smith, 18, was identified by the witness and subsequently arrested. He was charged with two counts of Breaking & Entering into Vehicle, In the Night Time with Intent to Commit a Felony.

Smith was held on $2,500 cash bail and was arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court.

The North Adams Police Department is asking all residents to contact dispatch if their vehicle was entered, or if they have any information regarding similar incidences.
