Vehicle stop leads to felony arrest


WARREN COUNTY, N.Y.—A traffic stop in Warren Couty led to the arrest of a Jamaica, NY man.

Warren County sheriff's stopped a vehicle for brake lights not functioning on Monday.

Jennifer Chandler, 37, of Schenectady was operating the vehicle and was ticketed for Inadequate/ Insufficient Brake lamps, operating with a suspended registration, unlicensed Operator, Operating without Insurance, and having a Backseat Passenger age 4 to 7 with no/improper restraint.

Chandlers 5-year-old daughter was lying down, napping across the back seat with no child restraint seat in the vehicle. The plates were removed and the vehicle was towed.

The Chandler's were also found to be the protected parties in an active Stay Away Order of Protection, protecting them from the male passenger, 44 year old Joseph Powell of Jamaica, N.Y.

Powell was arrested and charged with Criminal Contempt for violating the OOP.

Both Chandler and Powell were arraigned in Queensbury Town Court.
