GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Court was adjourned Tuesday morning for the man accused of killing his girlfriend's dog and leaving it in the Hudson River.
Matthew Wisell, 28, pleaded not guilty to the animal cruelty charges he faces. He has been in custody ever since.
Police arrested Wisell earlier this month.
Authorities say on April 3, a small, tan, mixed designer breed was found near the shore line of Havilands Cove Beach. The dog was two to four years of age, and its muzzle and legs were bound. Police said it appeared as though the dog may have drowned.
Authorities say Wisell killed the dog, which was actually his girlfriend's, because he thought it was having behavioral issues.
Wisell allegedly told his girlfriend he had found a new home for the pup. But police say he had actually killed it.
