PHILADELPHIA – Union College men's hockey team defeat Minnesota Saturday night taking home the Frozen Four championship trophy, but the win means a whole lot more to the seniors going out on top.
It took 23 years to win a title at the Division I level, but there was never any doubt for the Dutchmen seniors.
"I wouldn't have come to this school if I didn't think a national championship was the end goal," Senior captain Mat Bodie said.
"We've worked so hard in this class from day one we came in and we put in so much work, and to win wearing this jersey in my last game is something I'll never forget," senior forward Matt Hatch said.
It's a moment worth remembering, and so is this senior class.
"They are special," head coach Rick Bennett said. "It's been nice to work with those guys for four years. They've never had a quit in them."
