Man pleads guilty to car theft


ALBANY, N.Y. – A man has pleaded guilty to one count of criminal possession of stolen property on Monday.

According to District Attorney P. David Soares, Daquan Watkins, 21, admitted to his charge Monday morning.

Officials say that on October 11, 2013 at Goldstein Mitsubishi on Central Avenue Watkins requested to test drive a 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer, valued at $39,345.

After the defendant was finished driving and as an employee who accompanied him exited the vehicle, Watkins sped off.

On March 1, 2014, Watkins was found to be in possession of a stolen 2006 Nissan Maxima outside of his residence on Stephen Street in Albany. The vehicle was reported stolen on February 28, 2014 to the Schenectady Police Department.

Watkins faces two to four years in State Prison when sentenced on June 9, 2014. He will remain in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility to await sentencing.
