Man accused of gang assault in Saratoga


SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A Saratoga Springs man has been arrested in connection to an alleged gang assault.

Police say officers responded to a report of an unconscious male on Gardner Lane early Sunday morning. While on the scene, officers were told by a witness that there was a fight at the intersection of Caroline and Putnam Street.

Officers observed a small group of people allegedly assaulting a male who was on the ground. After the group realized they were observed by officers, police say they took off running from the scene.

Saratoga Springs Police say Jeffrey Carpenter, 25, was the only suspect apprehended.

The victim was taken to Saratoga Hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown.

Carpenter was charged with gang assault in the 2nd degree, a felony, and misdemeanors resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration in the 2nd degree. He has been arraigned and remanded to Saratoga County Jail. The case is still under investigation according to authorities.
