Sheriff: Man with expired visa found driving intoxicated

LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. – The Warren County Sheriff's Office says they arrested a man for staying in the country on an expired visa following a traffic stop.

According to authorities, on Sunday around 2:45 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle on Canada Street swerve a number of times. The vehicle was traveling at 58 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone.

A traffic stop was initiated. The Sheriff's Office said that the driver, Aurelio Fernandez Juarez, 30, was found intoxicated. Authorities say he failed field sobriety tests.

Fernandez Juarez's BAC was .17-percent according to authorities.

While he was being cited, for numerous traffic offenses including failure to yield the right of way for an emergency vehicle, unlicensed operation and possessing an open container in a motor vehicle, it was determined his visa had expired. Fernandez Juarez is a Mexican citizen.

He was held in Warren County Lockup pending arraignment in Lake George Town Court in the morning due to lack of bail.
