Two in Menands accused of selling heroin


MENANDS, N.Y. – Menands Police say they have arrested two people for allegedly selling heroin. 

According to police, an investigation was conducted after neighbors on Clifford Road complained of unusual activity in the Village of Menands. The investigation revealed that Virgilio Hernandez, 46, and James Phillips Jr., 37, were selling heroin.

Police say the investigation led to the discovery of 100 bundles of heroin packaged in 1,000 individual packets. They say the street value of the drugs was about $6,400.

Hernandez and Phillips have been charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree. They have been remanded to Albany County Jail without bail.

Menands Police were assisted by New York State Police CNET and NYS Police SORT.
