Board of Education hopes to approve spending plan

Posted:

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Schenectady Board of Education hopes to approve a final spending plan as they go in to Wednesday night's meeting.

The district has already brought down the $10 million gap to under $2 million through state and administrative reductions.

The next step could rely on raised taxes, and if not, more cuts could include co-curricular activities, reducing kindergarten to half-day, more art reductions, music, and PE, even closing the school pool.

A budget plan must be finalized by April 24 in time for the May 20 vote.
