State Police: Man arrested for drugs after clocked traveling 110mph


CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – New York State Police have arrested a man on drug charges after he was caught driving 110mph on the Northway.

According to authorities, on Monday, State Police on I-87 clocked a 2013 Subaru Impreza southbound traveling at 110mph in a 65mph zone.  

During the traffic stop, the driver, Gavin McCarthy, 19, was found in possession of a marijuana smoking pipe containing a small amount of marijuana.  

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a glass crack cocaine pipe and a small amount of cocaine as well, according to authorities.

McCarthy was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, and traffic tickets.  He was released on bail and is due to appear in the Clifton Park Court later this month.
