COLONIE, N.Y. - The brother of a Rensselaer County man who avoided rape charges due to a paperwork error is expected to be sentenced for his role in a burglary they both committed on Thanksgiving.

Raymond Halacy, 19, pleaded guilty last month to a felony burglary charge. Raymond, his brother John, and a third man broke into a home in Colonie and stole several items.

He has been sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years in State Prison

One Thanksgiving Day, 2013, Halacy and his alleged co-defendant Andre Beverly, 18, unlawfully entered a home in Colonie and stole guitars, a television, and other electronic items. Authorities say that after the burglary, Halacy and Beverly were located in the state of Florida and waived extradition back to the state of New York.

John was sentenced to five and a half years in state prison.
