ANCRAM, N.Y. – New York State Police have arrested a man for allegedly collecting unemployment benefits he was not entitled to.

According to authorities, on Monday, police arrested Henry F. Rothvoss III. They say Rothvoss created false entries to be made in the business records of the NYS Department of Labor by certifying weekly that he was completely unemployed when in fact he was gainfully employed.

The weekly certifications allowed Rothvoss to collect over $10,000 which he was not entitled to.

He was charged with Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, all felonies.

Rothvoss was arraigned before the Greenport Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.
