Brooklyn man accused of possessing drugs, bribing State Troopers


GREENPORT, N.Y. – State Police say they have arrested a Brooklyn man on drugs charges.

On Sunday around 7 p.m., State Police arrested Andre Elwin, 26, after a traffic stop on State Route 9. State Police K-9 Cahill found Elwin in possession of marijuana and MDMA.

While in custody, Elwin allegedly bribed the arresting troopers by offering them large sums of money to make the evidence and his arrest disappear.

Elwin was charged with Bribery 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7thDegree, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana.
Troopers stopped the vehicle Elwin was traveling in, on State Route 9 in the town of Greenport, when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. 
Elwin was arraigned before the Town of Greenport Justice Court and remanded to Columbia County Jail without bail.
