NYSUT welcomes first female president


ALBANY, N.Y. - New York State's largest teaching union, is now under new leadership after electing its first female president.

Karen Magee was elected over the weekend and is now the head of the New York State United Teachers and it's 600,000 members.

Magee is an elementary and special education teacher from Westchester County and replaces Richard Iannuzzi.

She said she will defend public education while crisscrossing the state in the coming weeks.
