Albany man sentenced for murder and stabbing

Michael Anderson Michael Anderson

ALBANY, N.Y.—An Albany man was sentenced to 45 years to life in State Prison on Friday.

Michael Anderson, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of Murder in the second degree and two counts of Assault in the first degree, on February 3, 2014.

On November 26, 2012 Anderson intentionally caused the death of Tonette Thomas, 20, by repeatedly stabbing her with a knife. Anderson also stabbed two other victims with a knife inside the same residence.

"Albany County has a strong network of support services for people experiencing these crimes. Mr. Anderson will pay for his crimes for the rest of his life, but look at the expense; a beautiful life of a young woman whose contributions to the world we were just beginning to witness," said District Attorney David Soares.
