ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany County announced a major financial commitment on Tuesday.
The commitment has been made to its Land Bank and will assist in efforts to combat blighted properties in Albany.
Since the county adopted the resolution, legislator Chris Higgins has sponsored legislation that created the land bank and has advocated for its success.
"I'm optimistic that the Land Bank will be a successful tool to help revitalize our urban centers throughout the county. Thanks go out to all those who worked so hard over a period of many months to get us to where we are today especially our legislative members, County Executive and community organizers,"said Shawn Morse, Chairman of the Albany County Legislature.
A news conference will be held in the Cahill room of the Albany County Office Building on Tuesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. to discuss the seven figure commitment.
