CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. - The chair of the State Public Service Commission is taking part in a roundtable discussion with state and federal regulators after high energy bills have angered many people.
The reason for the roundtable is to discuss impacts of recent cold weather on the wholesale energy market. Power companies and the commission have told NEWS10 ABC that the cold weather is driving up demand and causing prices to soar.
However, many aren't satisfied with that explanation and want the federal energy regulatory commission, or FERC, to investigate.
The public service commission says it will hold a conference in Albany next month to examine why winter energy prices were so high.
