Senate passes bill extending Medicare payments to rural hospitals


ALBANY, N.Y.—The Senate announced the passed legislation to extend two Medicare payment programs to 21 NY Rural hospitals on Tuesday.

Since Senator Charles Schumer's legislation has passed, critical payments to hospitals and ambulances will continue through April 1, 2015.

"I am thrilled that the Senate has stepped up and passed this critical legislation, which will now become law and help keep our rural hospitals and ambulance providers up and running. With this funding in place, these life-saving programs can continue to ensure that Upstate New York residents can receive top-notch health and emergency care, and that our hospitals and ambulance providers are fairly compensated for their work," said Schumer.

The following hospitals will be receiving funding:

  • Adirondack Medical Center
  • Alice Hyde Medical Center
  • Carthage Area Hospital
  • Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center
  • Cobleskill Regional Hospital
  • Community Memorial Hospital
  • Corning Hospital
  • Eastern Long Island Hospital
  • Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital, Inc.
  • Jones Memorial Hospital
  • Lewis County General Hospital
  • Massena Memorial Hospital
  • Nathan Littauer Hospital
  • Nicholas H. Noyes Memorial Hospital
  • Oneida Healthcare Center
  • Orleans Community Health
  • St. James Mercy Hospital
  • St. Joseph's Hospital of Elmira
  • St. Mary's Healthcare
  • UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital
  • Wyoming County Community Health System
