Travel companies accused of false advertising

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Two travel companies and their affiliate in Pittsfield are being sued by the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, accused of using false advertising to sell travel memberships.

The AG's office says The Berkshire Concepts and Netrate Concepts LLC, along with CRW Marketing, sent postcards offering a free cruise or airfare in return for attending a presentation.

But in order to cash in, customers learned they had to pay hundreds of dollars in taxes and fees. Customers were also charged thousands to access a travel website to book trips.

The AG's office says it's seeking more than $270,000 in restitution and civil penalties.

If you feel that you have been a victim of a vacation or travel scheme, or if you would like more information, please contact the AGO's Public Inquiry and Assistance Center Hotline at (617) 727-8400, or file a consumer complaint.
