Property tax being voted in state budget


ALBANY, N.Y. – State lawmakers voting on the state budget Monday, including the property tax plan.

The Senate and Assembly reached a budget agreement late Friday night. It included Governor Andrew Cuomo's property tax plan which would provide relief to homeowners.

Local governments must stay within the existing two percent tax cap to secure rebate checks for residents.

Homeowner would then get more help if counties work with the state to cut taxes by one percent over the next three years.
