ALBANY, N.Y. – Another person has pleaded guilty to his role in the Golden Town Buffet scheme.
Albany County District Attorney David Soares said on Monday that Pheng Sathongoth, 42, of Manhattan, pleaded guilty to one Count of Identity Theft in the First Degree, a Felony.
Sathongoth was involved in an incident involving the Golden Town Buffet in August 2013. The Bethlehem Police, United States Secret Service, United States Department of Homeland Security, New York State Police, and other local law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant pursuant to an identity theft investigation at the restaurant.
The search warrant revealed that Sathongoth used stolen credit card numbers and identities to purchase thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise.
He faces two and one third to seven years in State Prison when sentenced on April 28, 2014. He must also pay $5,901.55 in restitution to his victims and remains in the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail to await sentencing.
