Schenectady Police ask for assistance in driveway repair scheme

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Schenectady Police Department is asking for assistance from the media in dealing with driveway repair schemes.

There have been several reports of repair schemes within Schenectady, Colonie, and neighboring jurisdictions.

Officers responded to calls for service in early March on two separate occasions within a five day period for a report of a scheme.

The suspects of the schemes arrive at a particular residence and perform various driveway repairs without first getting consent from the homeowner. Once the individuals have completed the work they ring the door bell and demand money for the work that was completed but not authorized.

Anyone who has experienced a similar situation is urged to contact the Schenectady Police Department.
