ALBANY, N.Y. – New York Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman is cracking down on what he calls deceptive and misleading advertising at area auto dealers.
The Attorney General's office reached settlements with six Capital Region dealerships. A seventh was given a warning.
The six dealerships agreeing to reform their advertising practices and pay fines ranging from $7,500 to $15,000:
Schneiderman said the dealerships promoted sales and lead prices that were deceptive because they reflected discounts on rebates that were not available to most customers.
