ALBANY, N.Y. – Members of the Committee for Open Government touched on the successes of the Open New York program Tuesday.
New York State created a number of new websites and alert and messaging systems to increase the spread of information. The technology includes a text message alert system and the Taste of New York website which highlights local farmers and other food makers.
Members also highlighted the state's new open data website which provides instant government information versus writing paper requests to government offices.
"Now we're seeing the government push an amazing amount of information out to the public," Open Government Executive Director Committee Robert Freeman said.
The committee also said they are continuing to look for new ways to increase transparency in New York.
