Police: Woman stole $15,000 in unemployment insurance benefits
CATSKILL, N.Y. – State Police say they have arrested a woman
for two felonies.
According to New York State Police, Rebecca McGowan, 46, was
fraudulently obtaining unemployment insurance benefits by submitting false
information and failing to disclose earned wages. Upon investigation, McGowan
was allegedly receiving around $15,000 worth of benefits which she was not
entitled to from 2011 to 2013.
McGowan has been charged with grand larceny in the 3rd
and officering a false instrument for filing in the 1st.
He was arraigned in town court and was released to return at
a later date.
