COLONIE, N.Y.—A bomb threat at Shaker High School that was being investigated by the Colonie Police Department has been lifted.
The threat was made in writing in one of the boys bathrooms. All students were put in "shelter in place".
Students remained in their classrooms, all door and windows locked. No passes were issued outside the classrooms.
The Colonie Police Department responded and a thorough sweep of the building was done. As a result, the high school will return to its normal operation.
Due to the lack of specificity, the shelter in place mode was chosen. Had the bomb threat been more specific, evacuation or student relocation would have occurred.
Colonie PD will maintain a presence at the high school through the end of the school day and continue its investigation into who was responsible for the bomb threat.
