ALBANY, N.Y. -- Three Albany teens are in custody on burglary charges.

On Monday, Officer Salvatore Sturiale, a neighborhood beat officer assigned to the Neighborhood Engagement Unit, was on routine patrol when he observed a pair of teens walking on Helderberg Avenue near Grove Avenue.

Acting on his knowledge of an active burglary pattern taking place on his beat, the officer continued to watch the teens as they entered onto the front porch of a home. The teens were subsequently stopped by the officer and found to be in possession of items that were taken during a recently reported burglary.

The two teens, and another teen that was not initially present, were arrested following an investigation by Albany detectives.

Akeem Weeks, 18, Ozire Richard, 18, and a 16-year-old, all from the City of Albany, were arrested following an investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit.

On March 6, 2014 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 2:45 p.m., the trio entered a home on the 100 block of Hollywood Avenue through an unlocked front door, according to police. While inside, the three stole property belonging to the victim.

Also, between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., the trio entered a home on Hollywood Avenue near Helderberg Avenue by forcing open the front door. While inside that residence, the three stole several items belonging to the victim.

All three teens were charged with two counts of Burglary and two counts of Grand Larceny.

Weeks and the 16-year-old were also charged with one count each of Criminal Mischief for damaging the victim's front door.

All three were arraigned in the Albany City Criminal Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
