EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – A Troy man appeared in court twice on the same day for allegedly stealing computer merchandise.
Scott Cleland, 25, appeared in East Greenbush Town Court on February 20 to answer a charge of Larceny in connection with the theft of three children's hand-held computers worth $99 each.
Cleland was released on his own recognizance and went to the Troy Wal-Mart and proceeded to remove the security device attached to a $650 tablet computer and fled the store without paying for it. He was captured on surveillance cameras but security was unable to catch him.
Cleland was identified by security personnel and police officers who examined the surveillance recording. He was subsequently charged with a new count of Larceny.
Cleland was arraigned on the new charge on Friday, March 7. He was sent to the County Jail pending posting bail.
