Man pleads guilty to causing crash that killed his uncle

GREENPORT, N.Y. – A Livingston man has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter, according to the Columbia County District Attorney's Office.

Nicholas Howard, 20, has pleaded guilty to DWI and vehicular manslaughter in the 2nd degree. Howard was driving a pick-up truck on December 27 when he lost control of the vehicle, went off the road, rolled several times, and burst into flames, according to State Troopers. The crash killed Scott Fenoff, 40, who was Howard's uncle.

An investigation revealed that Howard's pick-up truck was traveling westbound on Church Road when it lost control. Howard suffered non-life-threatening injuries. After being released from the hospital, Howard drove back to the scene of the wreck drunk and was charged with DWI.

Howard is expected to be sentenced April 25.
