LATHAM, N.Y. - On Sunday, a special day was dedicated to a musical instrument many people may not know even exists although it has been part of American history for nearly 200 years.
The Mountain Dulcimer Music Festival was held in Latham on Sunday. People have plucked the string instrument since the early 1800s after getting its start in the south.
For the past 26 years, the Dulcimer Association of Albany holds the annual festival at the Calvary United Methodist Church.
The festival's organizers say it's perfect for a musician just starting out
